FAQ
-
Can I opt for an online consultation first?
Yes, it is possible to have a chat with one of our stylists before you come in for your appointment. We can arrange this via Facetime, Zoom, Teams etc. Please send us an email via the contact link on our page to arrange what suits you best.
-
How do I prepare for my upcoming appointment at home?
Please ensure that your hair does not have a buildup of any topical cosmetics e.g. Root cover spray, layers of hairspray, gel or wax also no hair growth tonics or stimulant. If you are unsure, please do reach out via the contacts link on our page.
-
Should I do a patch test before the appointment?
If you generally suffer from allergic reactions, have had bad reactions in the past or simply just want to be on the safe side, then yes, please do let us know if you’d like to come in for a patch test. This will need to be done at least 24hours before your appointment and will only take 10 minutes.

Is it true that I cannot color my hair if I’m pregnant?
No, this is not true, however, if you are considering substantial lightening with direct product-skin contact, especially bleach then the concern lies more in the risk of higher ammonia inhalation. Every person has different health needs or preferences and should consult with their doctor, the stylist, and/or follow their pure gut feeling. It’s better to communicate any concerns that you may have beforehand so that we can tell you honestly whether we should maybe proceed with a gentler service instead.

Is oily / unwashed hair better when blonding?
Yes, if you’re planning on a solid bleaching service (direct application to the scalp). It’s better to have the scalp’s natural barrier there for extra protection. When the product is not being applied to the scalp directly (eg: foils, balayage, painting, etc.) then it is irrelevant.
However, if you have any artificial products or layers on your hair/scalp (root touch-up powder or spray, hairspray, hair growth stimulant tonics or sprays, etc.) then it is best to gently wash your hair before your visit.

Is it possible to lighten hair without bleaching?
Yes, it is possible only on natural/uncolored hair. A high lifting color in this case could produce great results providing the client’s natural base color and the requested end result is within reasonable proximity in darkness-lightness level.
This method of lightening is most effective for lifting 3-4 base levels only. Eg: If someone with dark brown hair requests a light blonde result, it would not be possible for a color to lift through six base levels alone. Here extra oxidation or lifting potential would be required, and this can only be done with bleach.
